THE SHIP INN, GREAT HOLLAND

Welcome to The Ship Inn, the last remaining pub in Great Holland and one with a long history – there has been a pub on this site at least 500 years. 

Back in 2020, it looked like The Ship Inn (which was then called The Manor) might go the same way as many other pubs across the country. However, with a lot of dedication and vision, our village pub was saved by the community and is now owned by the Great Holland Community Benefit Society Limited. It’s a society with over 400 shareholders, some of whom live in the village, but others who wanted to be involved in the saving of a pub, live as far away as France and Spain and even America. 

The Ship Inn re-opened in October 2021 with the key aim of becoming the centre of the community, providing a warm welcome to all, and developing a real community spirit within Great Holland and the surrounding area. 

This traditional village pub stocks a great range of craft and guest ales, a selection of gins, spirits, wine, champagne, cocktails, and soft drinks. 

Open 7 days a week, we have a fantastic selection of events for all the family including coffee mornings, traditional pub quiz, darts, games afternoons and music events.

As a Community Pub, we are always delighted to help people celebrate a special occasion, be that a special birthday or anniversary or to celebrate the life of a loved one. 

With the exception of our Chef, who provides delicious lunches Monday to Friday between 12 and 3pm (last orders at 2.45pm), we are manned entirely by volunteers; they clean, they maintain, they garden, they serve beer and a whole array of other beverages, they serve food and they would love to welcome you. 

We are fortunate to have a great team of volunteers but keeping our pub ‘Ship shape’, takes a lot of time and dedication so if you would like to join the team, please do get in touch at info@shipinngreatholland.co.uk
